Relaunch of the Taiwan-EU Dialogue on Digital Economy renews cooperation on digital transformation

On April 23, MODA Deputy Minister Isabel HOU led a delegation to Brussels, Belgium, to co-chair the 3rd Taiwan-EU Dialogue on Digital Economy (DDE) with Renate NIKOLAY, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT). The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on relevant digital issues.

MODA noted that the DDE is a crucial platform for bilateral digital economy policy dialogue between Taiwan and the EU. Its resumption holds significant meaning for comprehensively promoting digital ties and cooperation between the two sides.

This year's meeting featured discussions on topics including Semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence policy, digital platform regulation, data governance,   submarine cables, cybersecurity, 5G/6G development, digital skills and audio-visual policy.

Deputy Minister HOU stated that facing the paradigm shift brought by the swift advancements of Artificial Intelligence requires not only technological breakthroughs but also value-driven navigation, making the establishment of a trustworthy digital environment an urgent priority. 

This meeting allowed exchanges on promoting reliable digital ecosystems and an innovation-driven digital development environment for the future.
